Cheap getaway for 1st anniversay?
We were looking into the poconos, cause we can avoid airfare, and just do like a 4 day weekend, cause I'm in grad school over the summer So some of the pictures looked cheasy, and kind of eeehhh, how should i say..erotic i guess? My hubby and I were laughing at the pics. Any suggestions?

Re: Cheap getaway for 1st anniversay?
I went to one Ceasers resort and it was nicer in real life then the pics, there was a TON To do but I know what you mean.
The Sterling Inn is more romantic/less cheese...it's also in the Poconos. They have little cottage style rooms with hot tubs & fireplace. They have a nice restaurant, a small bar/lounge and an indoor pool. I beleive there were other things to do that was out doors but we were there in March.
Newport, RI is nice...they have a beach, boat tour/sunset cruise type things, mansion tours, etc.
Mystic, CT/Foxwood...the Mariott there has a spa which is bound to be nice. THere's the seaport, acquarium, a shopping village and outlet shopping in the area. A lot of the Mystic hotels have shuttles to the casinos.

Re: Cheap getaway for 1st anniversay?
my parents own a B&B in the poconos.. many people go there for honeymoons/anniversaries/getaways. they also offer murder mysterys.
theres a bunch of B&Bs in their area that are all really nice and not tacky.. theres also some ceasers around there that have the heart shaped beds and champagne hot tubs.. its all in what you're looking for.
if you want i can tell you a bunch of websites for places to stay in the poconos.. just FM me if you're interested cause i dont want people to think i'm making this some sort of ad or anything.

how about Mystic CT. There is a bunch of stuff to do in Mystic, but also Foxwoods is close by.
Washington DC
Vermont
I've only been to the poconos once and I was very young so I can't give any advice on that.

I agree with all of the above posts. Boston is also a great place to get a way for the weekend.

We went to Caesars Poconos Palace...It was really fun! I LOVED having our own pool! We did all their all-inclusive stuff--archery, boats, fishing, etc...And it was nice having the meals included.

I love bed and breakfasts! They're so romantic and charming. You can do a search on bedandbreakfast.com . One of our favorite B&B cities is Boston. Good luck with your search!
