Can anyone answer this question for me about express mail...
Ok I am sort of freaking out...
DH needs to get his passport renewed cuz we are going on a cruise, he wants to have his passport renewed to be on the safe side...now we sent it by express mail so they will get it by tomorrow afternoon. In the envelope I put in another expressmail envelope with postage included so they can send it back to us by express mail. What I didn't realize was that if they send it back to me in that envelope someone has to sign for it...DH and work...he's usually home before me...what happens when noone is there to sign for it?
I read that after two attemps it goes back to the sender...I hope not..that would mean that it would go back to the national passport center...
I also heard that after two attempts it goes to the post office where you have to pick it up...if it does go to the post office which one does it go to...to your local one?
I Hope it goes to your local post office where we can go pick it up...
Can anyone calm my fears???

Re: Can anyone answer this question for me about express mail...
don't worry!
They'll leave a note on the door or in the mailbox saying that they attempted to deliver at "X time" on "x Date". They give you a time/date for a second attempt, but if you know you're not goiing to be there, there is a form on the back of that piece of paper. All you have to do is sign the form, authorizing the delivery person to leave the package without a signature.
We do it all the time!

Which form do I have to sign? the one they leave at the door???
that's good that they tell you what date and time they will be back...I could always use an excuse for calling in sick...
thanks I feel a lot better...

yes, it's on the back of the piece of paper they'll leave at your door or mailbox.

Re: Can anyone answer this question for me about express mail...
So nothing goes back to the sender...it would probably go back to the sender if noone claims it withing 5 days of the second attempt...
or unless you sign that form where the mailman can deliver it to you with no signature required.
