Birthday cakes
Where did everyone order their child's 1st birthday cake from? Did it come with the little cake just for them or did you order that separately?
I am in party mode. Abby will be one in June and between working, putting the house on the market and planning a move I need to start organizing this shin-dig.

We ordered from a Costco sheet cake and a cannoli cake from Reinwald's in Huntington.

Does Costco give you the little baby cake for the birthday girl/boy when you order the big sheet cake? I think a sheet cake from costco would be perfect for everyone but I would like Abby to have her own little cake. The normal small round cakes in the bakery are way too big for her. I always thought the bakery's gave you the little cake for the 1st birthday.

Re: Birthday cakes
I ordered mine from Francesco's in Bethpage. They were great to work with....I brought in a photo of what I wanted and had a few other ideas, but they created exactly what I wanted. The cake was DELICIOUS and they were reasonably priced.
I will try and post a pic.

That cake is so cute. Did you just cut a piece for John or did you let him have at it?

Re: Birthday cakes
thanks! Just saw your original question - I would have just given Emily her own cupcake (in photo) to eat, but she was diagnosed with milk and egg allergies right before her 1st bday So that was out. I ended up making her a cupcake with soymilk and other ingredients for her to eat with everyone else

Re: Birthday cakes
At first he grabbed one of the blocks (pure fondant) and took a bite, but we cut him a piece and he did the typical mush mash and smash.
For his acutal birthday we ordered a cake from cold stone (another mickey theme I wont post it because they did a horrendus job on it) he tried to do the mash but it was too cold for him

Re: Birthday cakes
Thanks for the info ladies. I think the mush, mash and smash is the part I am most looking forward to. I am just going to strip her down and let her go for it!!
