What are 30 year fixed rates now? For refis?
Are refinance rates different than regular rates? It doesn't make sense to me that they would be, but I see rates in the 4's advertised for refinances.
Anyone know what the rates are now for 30 year fixed, refinance mortgages?

Re: What are 30 year fixed rates now? For refis?
I did a refi on my house 3-4 years ago. The rates are the same as a first mortgage. The difference is in the fees. If you refi with your current bank, you may have almost no fees to pay (if they didn't sell your mortgage). The mortgage tax is also reduced or eliminated (paid only on the amount over your regular mortgage).

I am attorney & close alot of refinances for banks. If you are willing to pay points and have a great credit score then you can get rates for below 6%. If you don't pay any points it is around 6.5 to 6.75.

DH works for Washington Mutual and he says 6.125 or 6.375 is the going rate he believes, but he has the exact rates at his office. FM me if you want his info.

Re: What are 30 year fixed rates now? For refis?
For Washington Mutual, with no points, the rate for a 20 year is 6.125%. It's 6.25% for a 20 year. And the 30 year is 6.325%. DH just looked it up on their internal website. Again, feel free to FM me if you want more info.

Re: What are 30 year fixed rates now? For refis?
There are so many places out there offering 6% or less.
My credit union has 6% zero points, zero 800 fees, and a 90 day free rate lock i believe.
Priceline mortgage also has a 30yr fixed with 0 points for 5.75% with an APR of 5.936%.
Priceline might be worth checking out.

Rates went down again today. Looking like a good time to lock in if you haven't already done so.
