X-Post from LIW - Fortunoff Bridal Registry
I posted this on LIW- but figured this would make more sense to post on here..
I know that Fortunoff has a rep for screwing up registries- although I never really experienced this when we were engaged. I have been married for almost a year-- finally got around to unpacking our china, etc. We have some stuff at our parent's houses, so I cannot take a complete inventory-- but, I have been trying to figure out what we need to buy to complete our registry.
My registry is fully wrong-- I have no idea why numbers changed on certain things-- it makes no sense. I registered for this stuff and *I* am confused about what the hell I still need. I mean- this is despite the fact that they allowed more purchases on certain things-- like I have 16 ice goblets as opposed to 12- but ok, I will return them and get something I need-- but still, I shouldn't have to do this.
My question is-- for those that have experienced a registry screw up with Fortunoff-- have they given you anything- like % off purchases, etc.? I am lazy and it's obviously past 6 months- so, my 10% off has expired-- I am hoping for some concessions though. Just curious before I approach them and tear them a new one

You should change the date of your wedding online before going in there. If it is more than 3 months past your wedding they won't take stuff back or even exchange. We ran into this problem and I think Suven did too. I changed the date and had no problems after that. Just wanted to give you a heads up. They stink over there with their return/exchange policy!!

WHAT? That's crazy!! If they still have the merchandise, they should take it back.
So, are they that dumb that I can just change my wedding date? That seems so simple-- and people can just do that to get their 10%.

Yup, they are that dumb. I was married in 2/04. All my stuff was stored for over a year. I tried to return it once, with the original date and they wouldn't take it back, so I changed my date to a year and a half later and had no problems, except with stuff that was discontinued, which they still wouldn't take back. They have the dumbest policy, considering how much business they do. No biggie, just change it before you go and you'll have no problems.

Did they give you 10% off stuff to complete your registry?

I didn't buy anything when I went back, just did returns, we had everything off it we needed. But if you have something dated with your old wedding date, they won't do it.
