I have more questions about solids.
Sorry - I know a lot of people have asked a lot of questions about solids - but now it's my turn.
Right now I give Talia Cereal in the am and a veggie at night. She hates rice and barley - and only shows minimal interest in oatmeal - usually she eats a spoonful and then won't open her mouth again.
At night I give her a veggie and she eats that no problem.
Her schedule for her feedings is something like this:
8am bottle and cereal 11am bottle 2:30 bottle 4:30 Veggie 6:00 bottle and bed
Do you think I should be giving her the cereal at a different time - or just keep trying - maybe mix in some fruit when I get to fruits...any ideas?

Maybe she's full from the bottle when you give her the cereal. I give Joseph fruit in the AM, about 1-1.5 hrs after he nurses and then lunch @ 12 (cereal) and dinner @ 7 (veggie, cereal) but I space it out between bottles/nursing. He's a piggy though - and loves eating from a spoon. I would just try to space it out more and see if she'll eat any more.

Re: I have more questions about solids.
I should clarify - I try to give her cereal before the bottle - in the middle of the bottle - and after the bottle...none have worked.
I feel almost like between sleeping and eating - we are back to a new born schedule - it's like she will be doing either/or all day long again!

I think its just transitioning. Miranda goes between showing interest and eating to refusing solids. Its really a whole new taste/texture to them. How thin are you making the cereal? I think in the beginning the thinner the better.

def the thinner the better when it comes to cereal in the beggining and I suggest mixing with fruit- Bryan really loves that esp bannanas or apples.

Re: I have more questions about solids.
Jake loved his cereal at first but after we introduced fruits and veggies, he seemed to lose his taste for it. So, I started including fruit with the cereal. I don't mix it all up together, I just take a spoonful of cereal and dip it into the fruit a little. Or, I'll spoon a little fruit on top of the cereal so that whenever I grab a spoonful of cereal, there's a little bit of fruit in it too.

Same here! Christopher's a skinny little boy despite all he eats though. At least somebody in this family was blessed with fast metabolism!

Same here! Well, maybe not liver because we're vegetarians, but anything else I put on the spoon! She gets so impatient that she grabs the spoon from me and puts it in her mouth! Our little butterballs

Try mixing in a little applesauce. She'll like the sweet taste.

Re: I have more questions about solids.
I mix fruit in with the cereal and they love it. We haven't started veggies yet.
