fever blisters/cold sores
I haven't had a fever blister in almost a year and a half- and that was right after our wedding. So I was pretty surprised to wake up with one this morning. After poking around, I do't think I can take any medicine for it- even over-the-counter Abreva. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm going to keep putting blistex on it, but I'm willing to try any other natural treatments that will help make it go away.

It's funny you posted this, I just got one last week...out of nowhere! I haven't put anything on it just to be on the safe side. It's going away, slowly.

I get them very rarely and havent gotten one in years (knock on wood lol) however plain old rubbing alcohol worked wonders for me. just put some on a piece of cotton and dab your lip, keep it nice and dry and it really speeds up the healing time! HTH

Re: fever blisters/cold sores
I find when I keep it dry, it actually hurts A LOT more, because then it cracks easily. I've been putting Carmex on it all day, but I know it's going to get bigger and worse before it goes away. I'm so annoyed that I even got one, it's been such a long time.

Re: fever blisters/cold sores
I got one while about 4 months PG. My doc told me I could use Blistex, Abreva, and even Zovirax Creme (which I did use). They were willing to prescribe Zovirax tablets if I wanted them. I said no, that I would just use the creme.
