Should my shower be a surprise?
My mom just e-mailed me and asked if I want my shower to be a surprise or if I want to be in on it. I really like surprises, but just like a bridal shower, you know it's coming so how much of a surprise is it really? I'm having a hard time deciding.
What are you girls doing?

Re: Should my shower be a surprise?
I would not want to be surprised...but I don't like surprises
I would want to be able to wear a nice outfit and not be caught in something frumpy in front of all my friends and family.

Re: Should my shower be a surprise?
Ever since my bridal shower (which was a surprise), I told my mother I wanted to know. I almost had a panic attack and my bridal shower. So she said ok. Well, when she started planning she spoke to my DH and he said she doesn't need to know and no one told me. They are more than willing to tell me, but I thought it would be nice to be surprised.
Well, I ended up figuring it out that my shower is Saturday - but the only one that knows I know is my DH.
All in all, I think a surprise is better, guests like you to be surprises rather than the guest of honor knowing

Re: Should my shower be a surprise?
I'm glad I know when mine is. I just told my Mom and MIL that I want to be surprised by all the detials. I don't want to know anything else but the date and time.
And here is my situation--- Just recently I started to have problems with and old injury (my back & legs) and it's making me miserable
I would be miserable if I had gone out that morning used all my energy and then had to go through a surprise party that I didn't know about. Now I know that I will be fresh and prepared.
ETA: you just never ever know how you are going to feel months from now! Crazy things come up when you are preggo!

Re: Should my shower be a surprise?
No way - not for me anyway. I dont want a surprise, not when I'm this pregnant. MIne is in 2 weeks and I have time now to get my hair done and I'll have my nails done too the day before.

I feel the same way. I know the date & time that's it. I wanted to be showered, hair done, make up on, etc. I thought that the day of the shower my DH would tell me we were going to the park or something with the dog. I would be in sweats with my hair in a ponytail, no make up on and he would drop me off at my shower. I did not want that! He would do that too, just so I would not find out if it were a surprise.

Re: Should my shower be a surprise?
I wanted to know because I wanted to pick out everything for the party. If it was going to be a surprise I would of found out anyway cause I use to check my registry like everyday to see what was bought---hehe.

Re: Should my shower be a surprise?
I think it should be a surprise. Between your mother planning it and DH, they should be able to come up with an excuse to get you someplace and be sure that you are dressed and have make-up on. The guests definately like it better if the guest-of-honor is surprised. It kind of gives everybody a feeling like they are involved in it and like they are really doing something special for you rather than just showing up at your party with a gift. I like surprise showers better.

Re: Should my shower be a surprise?
Thanks for all of your opinions, I'm still on the fence although I'm leaning toward being surprised since I don't leave the house without make-up EVER! I know I'm so vain!!

I don't like surprises, but it was really nice when I didn't expect my bridal shower and I got home and everyone was there!
