Spinoff to Godparents
I have 1 brother and DH has 3 brothers. Is it weird or wrong for us to have two godfathers instead of 1 and 1.
We would both like my only brother and his brother to be involved, but don't know if people will see that as weird.
If we didn't do that, how would we pick which brother to use first?

Re: Spinoff to Godparents
I honestly do think that would be a little odd.
As to how to pick, I always thought that he picks the g-father on the first one and I would pick it on the second one.

Do we have to have a godmother? We don't really have anyone to pick.

Re: Spinoff to Godparents
My nephew has two godfathers - my husband and my SIL's brother. My other nephew has two godmothers - me and my SIL's sister in law.
My BIL & SIL wanted to keep the godparents in the family. It just worked out that my first nephew was born before both brothers on both sides were married so they had the two godfathers. Then once my second nephew was born, they didn't want to pick one couple over another so they picked their two sister in laws.
So now, the four of us (representing both sides of the family) are godparents to both their children.
It worked for them and allows us to spoil both nephews rotten.

Re: Spinoff to Godparents
I'm not sure if it's "spanish" tradition, but we get to choose two sets of Godparents... one of the church (baptism), and one of "water" (where we 'baptise' at home). It's traditional, yet not formal. Maybe you can have an official & unofficial set where they both can be Godfathers?
Good luck!

Re: Spinoff to Godparents
I am sure each church has different rules but from what I seen (Catholic) it has always been 1 Godmother and 1 Godfather.
