Tile?
Hardwood?
Carpet?

And why did you choose that type?

We have tile. We chose tile because we also have the washing machine down here (just on the other side of the wall. If, God forbid, we ever had a flood, I feel like the tile would be WAY easier to clean up.

I'm not a fan of carpet in the basement because I always feel like it smells musty, no matter how much you may have a dehumidifier on.

laminate with an area rug over it- can't put hardwood over concrete. It is our den/family room so we wanted something more cozy than tile.

We have carpet - no flooding problems and I planned on having my kids run around down there so I wanted to have it comfortable for them in case they fall.

we have porcelain tile and 2 decent size area rugs - love it! we have a moist basement (not wet) and run a dehumidifier 99% of the time. Our floor was a bit too unlevel to do laminate or I might have considered that...

We have tile now but when we redo it, we will pick something else.

It's a finsihed basement - but finished in the 50sChat Icon

We have Carpeting and tile

Carpeting is in the den (playroom) because our son will be down there playing in the future. We also have it in two other rooms because it will be dhs private practice. Carpeting is warmer looking.

Tiling is in the laundry room and entry into basement from outside entrance. We have it in these areas for easy cleanup

Our basement never gets water even with that huge storm recently

We have hardwood - it was there when I moved in twelve years ago and I just haven't changed it. Haven't had any problems with it. I know you need to put down a special subfloor though.

us too.

The laundry room, which also has the hot water heater in it has linoleum - which was there when we bought the house. I was happy when the water heater leaked all over that it wasn't carpet. It was easy to fix/replace.

Like the fake wood floor. It was here when we moved.
Laundry area and bathroom have tile, though.

we just put down wood-looking laminate in the main room & (thanks to this thread) we're going to put tile in the utility closet...don't know why we didn't think of that! Chat Icon

we are in process of finishing our basement.
We will have half carpet by the couch and tv area and the other half by the washer and mini kitchen/bar laminate. The bathroom will be tile.
