What kind of food and how much
Do you give your dog? I adopted a 30 lb 1 yo from NSAL and they gave the free dry food bag and I bought 3 cans. My coworkers are saying mixed things about the Purina brand they gave and giving canned food. Havent been to vet yet since she is up to date.

You should take her to the vet anyway - the shelters don't have the resources to give comprehensive exams and you need to get her heartworm prescription.
I don't think Purina is the best quality dog food. I would get a food without a lot of filler - make sure protein is the first ingredient listed. My dog eats Natural Balance, but there are a lot of choices out there. I don't give canned food because it grosses me out!
My dog loves it though, she gets it when she is sick.
The dog food bag should give serving size based on weight.
My dog is 25lbs and she gets 3/4 a cup 2x per day, but she is older than one and we tend to give her a lot of treats.

I would take her to the vet to have her checked out, right away. Just for peace of mind and to make sure everything is ok.
As far as food goes, I've always fed a mix of dry & canned, twice a day. We got our dog (about 1 1/2 yrs old when we got him) from NSAL this past summer. We were going to a trainer who said the Purina One from NS was OK, but not the best, so I switched to Purina Pro Plan - but I was a little worried after hearing about the issues with Purina Beneful, so recently switched to Science Diet which is what I have used for years with my 2 previous dogs.
