What kind of sauce do you use for baked ziti?
assuming you don't use a homemade sauce, I was wondering what brand everyone uses when you make baked ziti.

when I don't make homemade, I've been known to cut corners with classico. edit: because they have low/no fat versions that taste good.

We just made it using Barilla tomato and garlic sauce - I added a little ground meat, garlic, salt and pepper and it came out really good.

i actually find that for baked ziti, the "cheaper" more liquidy sauces work well for mixing with all the thick cheeses... kind of helps balance it out a little bit...

I actually make my own quick sauce. I take chopped garlic and onion or shallot-cook in EVOO until transluscent. Then I add a big can of chopped tomatoes and a little can of tomato paste. Let it simmer for about 20 mins.

Same here except I use a can of crushed tomatoes. I also throw in some salt, pepper, oregano and basil to season it up.

I just came back from the grocery store and bought Barilla baking sauce. I hope it tastes ok. I've tried that brand before in tomato & basil and it was awful
