What lamps would you put on glass top tables? UPDATED W/ PIC!
I just can't decide....the pic finally posted!
What sort of lamp would you put on them? I wanted the glass jar lamps (Bacchus from PB) but it just seems like too much glass.  Image Attachment(s):

i agree, i wouldn't put glass lamps on a glass table. what about something ceramic?

hmm it depends on how the rest of the room looks like. do you have a picture? generally, i dont care for ginger jar lamps, but it can work in certain settings.

We have wood/glass top tables in our LR and have this lamp. I think it goes well.
It's from Fortunoff. The short on on the right.

We bought this one from Lowes:
We purchased a complimentary shade to go over it.
ETA: We have glass table tops with black legs, the wall is a tan in color and this lamp gives off a lot of light and brings a nice touch to the tables.

I just can't decide....they are round two-tier, wrought iron with glass inserts (tops). I have a pic BUT of course it won't post.

I have glass lamps for RH. Let me see if I can find a pic. I like them on top of the glass.
ETA: here is a pictureof the glass lamps I have on my glass top tables.
This is while we were in the process of re-doing our living room.

I think I'd try to match the scroll-work/legs on the table. Is it wrought iron? then I'd put a colorful or patterned lamp shade.

I'm not sure what your entire room looks like, but i'd go kinda simple... you don't want to take away from those tables. I wouldn't do clear glass... a colored glass base or black would look the best with the tables.
target.com (they have a ton of great lamps)
westelm.com and crateandbarrel.com have some great lamps too.

Totally agree. I would go simple and try to match the type of iron that the table is.

Pretty tables. I have the Bacchus lamp, and I do think it would take away from the table, and actually may be too big. I would stick with something simple with a small iron base.

i would not do anything that has an iron base or looks like an iron base. it's too matchy matchy. you need something that will contrast with the iron frame of your table, but will complement it at the same time. with that being said, i think the silver base lamp in the first picture tine73 posted is pretty. so something with a silver, brass, ceramic or antique white finish would work well.
