What? (LONG)

Today DH told me RE's office called and said that I should not go to my next appt on Sat (10 days after start of bcps) since I am doing PGD and they have to coordinate with them. He said that I should stay on the bcps and come in again on 2/3. Well, I was like, what? So I call back and ask to speak to the nurse that supposedly called him. Well, they put me on with another nurse (who is a very nice girl), but she tells me that another woman dr. there (who is not my dr) had put in my chart that I should not come in on 1/28, since they feel that it would be a waste and stop the bcps and then come in on 2/3. WHAT??? I told her, first of all this woman is not my dr. and frankly I do not want to deal with her or listen to what she says. This is my 3rd IVF cycle. We are using the same protocol as the 1st. The 1st cycle I took the bcps for the 10 days, went in for blood and sono, then stayed on them for another 4 days since I still was not suppressed enough and then went in for blood and sono again. Then I went off bcps for 3 days, went in for blood and sono and then went on Follistim. I don't know why in the world I would ASSUME that 10 days would be enough of bcps when the first time it clearly wasn't. The second cycle I did 10 days of bcps, but I used Lupron that cycle. That is a completely different protocol that we are not repeating! This is really crazy. I am calling back tomorrow again and ask to speak to my dr. directly. DH thinks PGD would be a risk and a waste to us anyway since the first 2 cycles we did not have enough embryos to test with and even if we did, he would not want to risk them removing a cell from the 1 possibly good embryo and damaging it, which is a real risk with PGD. Whatever we have we will transfer b/c if there's a good one in there, it will stick. This is really frustrating, b/c we got two completely different stories from these people. What's the real story? And this is the second mess up on this cycle. The first was on Day 3 when I never got a call telling me what to do after the blood and sono that day. The first 2 cycles I was told I would get a call with instructions and I did. This cycle I was told the same thing and never got a call. The next day I talked to a nurse practioner there and she tells me that they really only call if there is a change. That is such bull*&$#^$&*! They call on Day 3 either way! This is not my first cycle and I really resent her acting as if I'm some idiot who doesn't know what's going on.

Sorry this got so long! I'm just really frustrated. I have enough going on in my life right now and I just wish these people could get their act together so I don't have to go crazy running around after them to find out what I should be doing.

Re: What? (LONG)

TTC is one of the most emotional experiences a couple can go through, and when it’s a challenge, the emotions peak. We go off to these physicians hoping that they will be able to analyze our personal situation and come up with a plan, a protocol …something that is designed just for us. When it turns out, that we are the ones driving, and they are just putting gas in our car, I believe it’s time to either leave that clinic or demand more from them. I am using the analogy of a car because it’s interesting. The reason why I love my mechanic is because he explains everything. He goes over the reasons why the car is acting up and why things can or can’t be possible. When we go to a mechanic who just charges us money, and doesn’t explain or isn’t thorough with diagnosing our cars, we find a new mechanic. It’s a shame because, when it’s something that means the world to us, like having a baby, we don’t always have the clarity as we would if it was just a car. We are taught to have faith in our doctors, we believe they should truly care and have our best interests at heart. Unfortunately, some clinics/doctors do not. I asked a doctor at the clinic you go to, several questions. She replied, “It’s very complicated and that’s why we went to school and took so many exams to get to where we are”. She of course never answered my questions and her remark was patronizing. It was then that I decided that they didn’t have my best interest at stake. I have met with several doctors from different practices over the last month, and there is a distinct difference amongst them. I know you have insurance that is paying for this, and that insurance is running out. Is it at all possible, that you can meet with a doctor from another facility before that occurs? If not, then get an immediate consult. Your doctor needs to sit with you and explain in detail what exactly they have in mind for you and WHY ....

I am so very sorry you have to deal with this. You certainly do have enough going on and should be treated with tender care !

Very well said.

I am sorry for your frustration. Your feelings are entirely justifiable as they are yours. As Michelle said, this is one of the most emotional rollercoasters that life can throw at us.

If you can, I'd move on to another clinic.

Re: What? (LONG)

I'm sorry!

I agree with everyone else that maybe it is time to move on if possible.

You don't deserve to be treated this way.

Good luck and much baby dust to you for this cycle
