when it comes to elementary/middle/highschool, what distinguishs a great school from a good school to an average school and a poor school?
what do you look for? thanks!

I'm sure everyone has their own view but what factors into my decision:
Class size Advanced & special ed classes & teachers that are available. Schools scores. % that go on to college Crime rate. Poverty level of the district.

so does that mean when you look up a school district, the highschool stats have to stand out more to you than the elementary/middle school stats?

Yes, personally I would want to buy a home in an area that the elementary school/middle school feeds into a highly regarded public high school.
We're still undecided if we want to send our kids to private or public schools but either way, I'd want to buy a home in a good school district. Home values retain value and home appreciation is better.
