That you may be very shaky after giving birth. I thought something was wrong, but apparently its normal.

I was talking about this with other preggers the other day, what did you find out the hard way that no one would tell you? or that you found out and had no clue before getting pregnant?
I found out today exactly how bad the bleeding will be after the birth and I have to admit I am scared out of my mind.
This was me...I had no idea how much you bleed after giving birth. And I didn't realize the amount and size of the clots that come out too. One time I called the nurse into the bathroom in a panic because I literally passed a clot that was about 8-9 inches long. She said it was perfectly normal.

Most of the post birth stuff goes away after a short amount of time and then you get to spend the rest of your life loving your little one. It's all def worth it.

ITA. Alot of births aren't easy and come with alot of physical stuff that you go through but it is SOO worth it. Shoot my labor sucked and here I am doing it again- so it can't be that bad right!

Re: What no one will tell you about pregnancy/birth
I had heard about the hair loss PP, but didn't realize how bad/annoying/gross it would be.
But, with all the bleeding, hemmoroids, peeing, #2 issues and pains that we may have to suffer through, it is only for a short period of time. Here I am back again, it is all worth it

Don't be!! Every pregnancy is different. I'm reading some of these stories going like , because I didn't have hems, and peeing was fine, and my cha cha is perfectly ok lol.
The anticipation is soo much worse than reality. Bleeding really isn't that bad, I mean seriously we've all had our periods for how many years, it was like a practice run lol. Pain is not a factor, because epi's can always be given, people lie that you can't get it after a certain point lol. Don't worry!

Yeah, I second the bleeding thing, and for the length of time you bleed for. Not nice. But, it does end soon enough!!! Six or eight weeks later, it all stops!!!
def the bleeding...esp the first time you use the bathroom following giving birth. OMG after I gave birth to my DS i got so scared when I saw the blood I started crying and a nurse came running in and reassured me that it was normal
Also, newborns have ALOT of mucus...not all of it is expelled at birth. My poor DD kept choking on it after I gave birth, 5 times the nurses had to run in b/c she was blue, so they could suction her. It is so scary even though they tell you its normal (not the amount she had it, but for babies to do it alittle bit after birth) It happened only once with my DS the day after he was born (I was hysterical when he was choking b/c I didnt understand that this happenes to newborns), but for some reason my DD had a ton of mucus. Thank god she's OK now.
ETA: with the bleeding, I agree it wouldnt have been as scary if I was warmed ahead of time. but I just was so not expecting it to be so heavy

thanks girls for the encouragement. i had a minor panic attack last night while watching 16 and pregnant (of all things ) - my life is NEVER going to be the same, I will NEVER be on MY time schedule again, sitting/laying around for as long as I want will be over, for years. just LOTS of changes. Of course, I felt totally fine this am thinking about holding DS and nibbling his tiny toes. Its just going to happen SO soon and thinking about the birth aftermath is enough to make me crap my pants hourly at this point

Re: What no one will tell you about pregnancy/birth
i didn't realize that you could bleed for so long after.
i had said a benefit to bein preggo = no period for the 9-10ish months BUT u basically bleed for weeks after so its like having all those missed periods at once!
other stuff i didnt really know about: mucus plug, stripping membranes etc.
ETA: i knew the baby would kick and move...but i didnt know hoooow much and that it would actually hurt

Re: What no one will tell you about pregnancy/birth
The lenght of the doctors rubber gloves during delivery. I wondered why they went alsmost to her shoulders. Then when I was delivering the placenta and some was still in...well....that was why she had those long gloves on. So be prepared that it might just be possible that your Dr's entire arm could be inside you!
(Note: My Dr. was petite, so this could have magnified the porblem for me! )
ETS: That I had good experiences with both of my deliveries, some minor set backs (epidural problems with my first), but looking back nothing was bad enough to overlook the actually birth of my children... It's ok to be nervous or frightened before giving birth just remember to go with it and abosrb it all...
