no roids no drugs no distorted junk no trembling pushed through 3 contractions and had a sweet baby boy on my stomach.
I was calm and aware through it all and I wouldn't change it for anything.
Don't get nervous ... I was SO EXCITED when my water broke - it was like Christmas in July!!!

Re: What no one will tell you about pregnancy/birth
This thread is scaring the cr*p out of me. I'm seriously afraid to throw up during labor. I try to hold out from throwing up with all my might just in general.

The first time you have to go #2 after a c section is the most excrutiating thing you'll ever imagine!!!
This actually wasn't bad for me at all! I drank a lot of juice so I wasn't constipated. No biggie

Also because I know there are alot of first time moms reading this thread and freaking out, I want to explain why I pushed so long. Apparently DD was sunny side up and we couldn't turn her AND she had her head slightly turned towards her shoulder so she was not descending down the birth canal. I think its pretty rare for both of these things to occur at the same time, so don't assume you will have a similar experience!
My DD was in a similar position and I had a home birth with no pain meds I will say that was the most pain I've experienced in ANY of my labors. I pushed for well over and hour with her. I truly think if she had been my first I would not have gotten her out.
One thing I didn't know about was the bleeding after birth, I had no idea it would go on for weeks.

Re: What no one will tell you about pregnancy/birth
I didn't experience most of the stuff mentioned by the other BTDT ladies. The most annoying thing about my labor was that my water broke at 4:30pm on Thursday and DD wasn't born until 4:30 on Friday. Thankfully I wasn't in active labor until Friday morning and I got an epidural when I felt that I couldn't handle the pain anymore. My epidural was turned off when I started pushing b/c I wasn't pushing well...and I seriously felt everything after that but it wasn't that bad. I believe the theory that you just forget how bad it seemed after a little while. It's been 2 1/2 years and I can't wait to do it again. The end reward is all worth it.

yes I was on the floor in my bathroom praying 2 God bc I hadn't gone in almost 2 weeks
I threw up twice during my c section, but not really a big deal. and I had THE worst shakes, so bad that I couldn't hold my DS out of fear of dropping him. my c sec was elective so I brought these things upon myself it really wasn't that bad tho, except the # 2 part. I wondered If I would die from $h!tt!ng a baseball

this thread is absolutely nothing to be scared of. it actually really reminds me of the book by jenny mccarthy belly laughs... i read that book at like 8 weeks preggo and almost died but i have to say about 99% of the stuff she mention happend and i was glad i read it because i knew what was happeneing.. was totally NORMAL! so just read this thread and bank it so if and when it happens you know its normal and nothing to be scared of!
as for my response... 1. iw ish i would have been more educated about preterm labor!
2. the things that could possibly go wrong during a c-section and what to expect if they do. (fully intend to ask to be knocked out 2nd time around)
3. that even if you have a c-section you can stillllllllllllll POOP and be completely embarrased (if you want more details ill be happy to elaborate )
4. that bleeding post partum can last 8 weeks and then you can get your 1st period RIGHT AFTER and have that last a full 4 weeks making that postpartum bleeding a grand total of 12 weeks STRAIGHT!
and honesly with all my horror stories i cannot wait to do it all over again!
I fully intended on being knocked out for my second C-Sec but they will not do it. The doctor said there is X amount of minutes that they must have the baby out before that anesthesia causes breathing problems for the baby. With a second or subsequent C-Sec they take into account more time because they have to deal with the scar. So they said they will not do it and my biggest fear of the whole birthing is getting the needle in my spine again so I was less than pleased.

I like this thread...I am the type of person who likes to know exactly what I am getting into. I want to know that if I poo on the table or pass an 8inch clot after birth that it is perfectly normal!!!

Re: What no one will tell you about pregnancy/birth
You're in so much pain and so focused on getting that baby out that you won't even realize it. I pooped almost everytime I pushed and the only reason I knew was because I could feel them wiping me down. It was cleaned up so fast though that if I wasnt really paying attention, I wouldnt have known. The pain takes your focus off everything else lol
Plus the nurses and OBs said that if I didnt poop on the table, then it means I wasn't really pushing properly

I agree. I never knew that it would take months before everything returned to normal in terms of #2.
I didn't realize that the epidural could only kick in on one side at first and that it would have no real effect on back labor. I had really intense rectal pain/pressure and the epi did nothing for it.
I didn't realize how difficiult the first few days after a c-section would be. It hurt to move, laugh, hold DS, etc. Everyone recovers differently, but the first week was pretty tough for me.

You can always do what I did... request an enema! I was so fearful of pooping on the table and had dealt with such horrile constipation throughout my pregnancy, that I asked the nurse for an enema. It's not the most pleasant thing in the world, but it's really not that bad at all. Plus I got to poop in the privacy of a bathroom and cleared my system out. It was great! I will definitely be asking for it again this time.

I actually like these threads so I am not a deer in the headlights. Now I know if I pass a giant clot I am not dying, that it is normal. If I didn't know that I would be screaming. So glad someone else got to panic for me. I feel expect the worst, and hope for the best. That boy scout motto couldn't be more on, Always be prepared. Lol. Thank you ladies for sharing, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

i will absolutely be discussing this with my ob the second time around i had a very horrible tramautic C-Section the first time aroun. the spinal was the easy part i didnt mind that one bit! i didnt even mind the throwing up and pooping all over myself!...

I second this!!! It's honestly the LAST thing on your mind!!!
I want to tell you all too, that giving birth was my #1 fear my entire life. I stressed about it every single day of my pregnancy. 30 minutes after delivering DD, I was in my room talking to my father and step mother and said I would do this all again in a heartbeat !!!!
I was able to have a vaginal delivery when the Dr. was convinced I'd end up with a c/s. And a very easy vaginal delivery at that. My recovery was also very easy and quick. I was up walking around 2 hours later.
