What should I tell people to get my kids?
Ok so my DC 1st birthday is December 30th. Of course there is also Hanukkah and Christmas right before. People are asking, and I want to tell them things that will be good throughout the year - so what kinds of toys are good for 12m-24m? I plan on not giving them everything right away, to spread out the gifts through the year, since there are no gift-giving opportunites again until next December!
We already got them the Elmo restaurant - that is our gift to them.

Re: What should I tell people to get my kids?
Good question... People are already asking me what to get Mason for Hanukah. He's going to be about 6 1/2 months then. I'm guessing clothes and toys, but what kind of toys? He has a lot, but not into it as much right now.

Laugh & Learn House/Kitchen

Do you know if people are planning on buying them things together (i.e. larger gifts) or stuff individually?

Ride on toys - FP makes a nice bus and DS also has a disney Cars car. They have a little storage under the seat.
Leggos
Foam play mat
outdoor toys
DVDs, CDs
Leap Frog has some ABC toys that are good for learning
Books
If people are willing to give gift certs you can tell them you are going to put them towards an outdoor play house

Outdoor stuff would be good.
Kaydyn's bday is in January so I asked for her bday for people who were going to buy her clothes to get her stuff that she could wear in the summer and the fall.
Ride on toys are also a big hit with Kaydyn

We have the same issue. I started putting together a list: LeapFrog musical table, ride on toys like the Fisher Price fire truck, Fisher Price little people farm and some type of wagon. Blocks might be a good toy too. I also plan to get DS the Pottery Barn Kids anywhere chair for his 1st birthday.

Re: What should I tell people to get my kids?
I usually tell my SIL they love Coach & Ann Taylor.
When they were smaller, I"d opt for clothes, books & a few small toys. We never had the room for large toys. When they were toddlers I'd suggest outdoor toys (push things) or anything with an off switch. Now that they're older & having stepped on many toys, I suggest things that are not sharp.
At 12-24 months, I found they were most interested in physical toys, climbing, walking, etc.
