What some people do for love
i work for a news wire firm and tis was on the wire yesterday
Officer Claims Wife Put Pot in Meatballs A detective suspended after testing positive for drugs says his wife served him meatballs spiked with marijuana because she wanted to keep him out of harm's way by forcing him into retirement. An administrative judge believed him, and recommended earlier this week that Nicholas Chiofalo be reinstated. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has yet to decide what to do. "We can't comment because the matter will still come before the police commissioner for a final determination," said spokesman Paul Browne. Chiofalo, a 22-year-veteran assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, was suspended without pay last year after a random drug test found marijuana in his system. The officer denied ever using drugs and demanded a hearing. During an investigation, his wife said she had substituted marijuana for oregano in her meatball recipe in hopes of forcing him to leave police work. The detective's lawyers also presented evidence that she had passed a lie-detector test, and offered testimony from a toxicologist that the excuse was valid.

if dh did that, we would be heading towards divorce court. people at lunch said she was doing it out of love. i don't think so. there's other ways to ask a loved one to leave/change jobs

omg what is this lady sick i mean her husband is a police officer and she put marijauna in the meatballs. I would have also been in divorce court myself if my husband was a police officer and I did that!

Re: What some people do for love
While I think what she did is totally wrong..It doesn't seem like she thought through what the consequences would totally be. Doesn't sound like she didi it because she hated him and wanted to ruin his life, although it kinda did, but more because she loved him and didn't want to lose him to the job. Does that make sense? I think she understood he could lose his job, which is what she wanted, but seems like she did it out of love more than maliciously. She was in fear of losing him to the dangers of his job and felt this was the only way to get him out..although it was totally wrong, but I wonder what will be of them, I think it is definitely grounds for divorce.

Re: What some people do for love
DH told me a story about one of his drivers (he's a supervisor for MTA) who tested positive for coke and her explanation was that she had, er... "taken care of" her DH and doesn't spit.

Does anyone remember when on Seinfeld, Elaine tested positive for opiates because she had a poppy seed bagel?
