What the H is with the rampant overuse of quotation marks?
Has anyone noticed this?
An Area Director operates as "key" member of the team(why the quotes? Are they NOT a key member?
Another example:
I "tweak" the e-mails to make them "friendly" and "interesting"

I took the first sentence to mean he's really not a "key" member

I probably should have explained...this was given to all area directors as part of the commission plan so it was an explanation of what our jobs were! I feel like people do it to emphasize the point but in my mind it really indicates sarcasm! People use bold, different type, italics etc

Re: What the H is with the rampant overuse of quotation marks?
My MIL is an inappropriate quoter. She'll write things in a card or a text that say: Have a "merry" Christmas and I wish you the "best New year". It just makes no sense. She's quoted people's names and places, all sorts of things that don't require quotes. I share some of the funnier ones with my mom who is totally on top of grammar and punctuation, so at the very least, we get a good chuckle

Our refrigerators at work are "cleaned" every Friday.
I want to white out the quotations every time I walk by.

I guess I don't "fit the mold". I don't "wear the latest clothes" or even ones that don't "reek". I don't "change my underwear". I'm not "buff". I don't have "firm breasts". I don't "exercise". And when I do sweat, I don't "shower".
