what to bring a brand new mom?
I'm going to visit my friend tonight and want to bring her something. I thought flowers, but don't want to overload them with them since I'm assuming they'll have so many! I asked her if she needed/wanted anything and she said she was all set.

Either food. Esp if her DH is back to work. Bring maybe something she can reheat for lunch tomorrow.
Or I love the fruit idea too.

definitely food!
When my cousin had her baby in oregon, I visited her, went to the grocery store, and made about 2 weeks of food, and shoved them in the freezer.
she was stressing that she had no time to eat or shower, so this helped her out a lot.....

a meal! when my SIL came to visit she brought a meal to eat that night and a meal to freeze....it was so nice not to have to worry about cooking!

Before I even read the othe replies I thought of food immediately! Bring something that can be frozen (like lasagna) in case others brought foods that need to be eaten soon.

I definitely agree with a meal for the freezer! No one brought us a meal to freeze with my first and thinking back, that is what we would have loved so I didn't have to cook!

a fruit basket - I got it when I first came home and LOVED it. It was great to eat some fresh fruit.

a meal!
When my sister had her baby, I made a couple of meals, and then divided it up into single servings to freeze. This way, her or my BIL were able to just heat up what they wanted, and they had enough to last for a couple of weeks.

I would go with the cookies or brownies. Some treat she likes. Its nice to have a few snacks when you are in the hospital

I would bring a GC for takeout. DH and I didn't cook for weeks after DS was born. When I first got home I had friends who brought bagels and cream cheese, another friend brought tons of deli stuff, and we ordered out a TON.

When one of my friends had a baby, I made her baked clams and baked ziti.
Another friend...a whole tray of ziti.
Food is the best...who wants to cook anyway?
