What to bring to tax appt. after buying home?
The accountant said "bring your closing papers." What exactly does this mean? The only thing I've received since closing was the deed.

The financial paperwork that they gave u at closing. Not the deed. U should also get a mortgage year end statement with all the interest, property tax paid etc...

I got the mortgage statement, but I was given zero financial information at closing.
ETA: Just sent an email to my lawyer. I figure any paperwork I needed should've been given to me from her.

I think the statement is called the hud. It would show any real estate taxes or mortgage interest you paid at closing.

Yes, you're right. My lawyer never gave it to me. Got in touch and they'll send it. Thanks!!

Yep, you need a copy of your HUD statement. It has all the numbers on it that your accountant would need to prepare your taxes. Just a word of advice that I wish someone had told me. We purchased our home in June of 2013 and I was expecting a HUGE refund when we filed since we bought a house, paid closing costs, paid taxes, etc. Turns out we got next to nothing back because we weren't in the house for a full year, paying a full year of taxes, etc. I'm hoping this year our refund is much better! We also changed our deductions, so hoping that helps, too!

Thanks! We purchased in August so I definitely wasn't expecting anything grand.
