What to do? I am sure others have dealt with this before...

I have been at my job for 5 years and I am miserable for many, MANY reasons. I have been sporadically looking for a job.

We are in the 1st month of TTC. We realize it can take years.

So my question is, do I stick it out at my company because I have a ton of vacation days and since they have known me forever they will be lenient regarding Dr appts if I get pg, or if I am not feeling well one day, etc. But then again it can take a long time to get pg if I even do and that's just more time being miserable here at work.

OR if by some miracle I do get a new job what if I become pg right away!?!? I know I have certain rights but if I am at a place less than I year I might not be eligible for maternity leave and then its the fact that these would be new people in my life and they might not have the same leniency on me.

What to do? Its like life is on hold right now!!! Any similar experiences?

While I'm not in a similar situation, after going through a roller coaster of a year TTC, I would not put my life on hold..JMO. If you are that unhappy, it doesn't hurt to start the job search.

If you are that unhappy at work, it could effect TTC... Dont put your life on hold!

I was in pretty much the same situation... lucky for me the choice was made for me... the company I worked for colapsed! While very unfortunate for others, I know it was the best thing for me!

If you do get preg while still at your current job, it MIGHT be worth sticking out the 9 months and then looking for a job while on maternity leave.. but that is totaly up to you and your unique situation.. just something i thought i'd sare that i considered while in my hell hole..

I know if it was my luck...as long as I stayed at that job I wouldn't get pregnant...the second I left, it would happen!! But, I do totally understand where you are coming from!! Maybe just start the search and let fate step in!

I would do what is going to make you happy. Don't put your life on hold for TTC, you never know what will happen.

I went through this. I had been at my company for 7 yrs and was well-liked so I knew they would give me a lot of flexibility when I got PG etc. Well, I made the move anyway and landed at a company that's way more flexible and has the best maternity policy I've ever heard of. You never know what could happen so I wouldnt hold back with the job search

It's a tough decision. We've been TTC for the last few months and I am not happy at my job. Like you, I've been here a long time and have so much time saved up, etc. I've decided to stick it out for now since my job itself is boring right now but the atmosphere is good. I work with a small group (less than 5 people) and they're all great. So, I'm not happy but I'm not miserable. If we are not PG by the end of the year then I will start job hunting. Only you know what you can put up with.

Uggggghhhh....it's like I do not want to be a victim of Murphy's law when it comes to this!!!!

I am going to continue to look for a job....I think overall it would make me happier.
