what to expect?
So it's been almost a week since we learned there would be no baby growing in the sack and I would miscarry...I decided for this week to hope that nature would take its course and start to miscarry..but if not I would go to the doctor and take the medicine to get it going...Dr. Did not recommend a D&C this early on...so my question is..what can i expect? how long from when I take the medicine will it start? How long will it last? I am leaving for a family vacatin saturday and I would love for it to be all over by then...any ideas??

Re: what to expect?
I'm sorry you're going thru this.
I chose to m/c on my own and it took 2 weeks to happen from the day we learned there was no h/b. I did not take any meds and was about 8 wks along. My Dr. gave me the option of going on my own or a D&C.
I'm not going to lie.....it was pretty painful and I was sometimes doubled over. I was in the bathroom often and there was some diarrhea.
I started feeling crampy about 10:30 pm, and by 1-1:30 am, it was pretty intense. Didn't sleep much, but by the morning, I felt a lot better. I didn't go in to work, but the pain was 99% gone. I didn't have much bleeding after that first nite, which I was pretty surprised about.
Feel free to FM anytime.

Re: what to expect?
Holy crap, I'm in the same boat.
I have this brown stringy stuff (TMI) sometimes and I know that has to be the start.
I'm so sorry you had that pain. It sounds awful.
eta: I didn't get the medicine so maybe I will ask tomorrow. I wonder if it's any different with or without the meds.

Re: what to expect?
I guess my biggest concern and reason for not waiting for it to happen on it's own is the fact that I am leaving for the Jersey shore w/ my family on Saturday for the week and really don't want it to happen when I'm there. I don't want my family to worry about me and I want to be done when I go...I spoke to the doctor today and he said if I start the meds tomorrow I should be done by saturday. I work from home so it will be good to deal w/ this from here...i'm not looking forward to the rest of the week b/c I have heard about the pain.

Re: what to expect?
I'm so sorry for your loss I never had to take any medication, I miscarried naturally about a week after I was told it wasn't viable. For me, it wasn't physically painful, and we like a regular period. I'd say the first couple of days were rather heavy, but really only like a heavy period. I bled for aobut 9 days.
