What to expect at Pediatric Opthamologist Appt
I have to take DS who is 2.5 to a pediatric opthamologist (Dr. Strome) bc my ped noticed what might be strabismus in one eye. The dr said the appointment will take from 1.5-2 hours. Can anyone tell me what to expect? I know they will dialte his eyes and examine but that takes 2 hours? Also, I just know DS is going to freak out and not cooperate bc he will be scared. Any BTDT tips? Thanks so much!

we have seen Dr. Strome several times, LOVE him!
They will take a history, look at his eyes, range of motion. He will be dilated and they will at his eyes again.
They will put you back in the waiting room and then you will see Dr. Strome. It does take 1-2 hours.
They are excellent with children! My DD started seeing them at 4m ... she is now 13m
(be prepared, he is older than dirt but he is amazing, so caring and knows more than anyone else in the field)
ETA - bring snacks, drink. They do have toys in the waiting area!

I used to see him when I was little for amblyopia. When the eyes are dilated it takes time in between, so you'll be back in the waiting room. He used to always send me home with sunglasses since eyes were sensitive.
