What to get 6 year old DS for his birthday
I'm at a loss. He is asking for a DS or a phone (yeah, right!) but DH and I are adamant about not getting him anything having to with video games.
What else can I get DS for his birthday?

Ha! DS will be 5 and he keeps telling DH and I what a great idea it will be to put a TV in his room. I told him at 15 we'll talk about it. 
What about tickets to a show? Was thinking of taking DS this summer to see the Marvel Show live.

Would he enjoy a Wii. We have one and I know my kids love the games that keep them active, wii dance and the sports ones?

A DS isn't that expensive, I got one for my DS for Christmas, games are only $20-29 or so so they aren't as bad as a full on gaming system.
Mine is almost 7, but at 6 he got Legos and Skylanders. Which is what he wants again this year
ETA: My reading comprehension is poor. I just saw about videogames. I am against them as well, but did give in to the DS.

DS will be 6 next week and we are buying him lots of Lego sets (mostly from the Lego Movie) and a new bike.
Also trying to avoid video games

What about remote control cars/planes?
Lego and Knex sets are great classic toys too.
My DS is very into video games but loves other things too.
Puzzles, crafty things, board games, bean bag toss games, etc.

A kindle? My boys do play regular games on theirs, but they also like the educational games.
