What to serve-lunch
I am having a couple of girlfriends over on Monday with their kids and am having trouble thinking of what to serve for lunch. 3 ladies and 7 dc- ages 3-8. One of the kids has a peanut allergy. I was thinking some type of salad for the moms and sandwiches/fruit for the kids? Any other suggestions? I want something I can prepare ahead of time so I can hang out with my guests. Thank you!

Yes, I would def. have a large fruit platter or fruit salad. What kind of salad were you thinking? I was thinking maybe do egg salad or chicken salad for the adults that they could throw on top of a regular salad, and because the kids might eat the egg or chicken salads as well. You can get the kids yogurt or slices of cheese and crackers.

I'd probably take the easy route and just buy a bunch of cold cuts, bread, mayo, mustard etc. and have everyone make their own sandwiches. A green salad and fruit salad on the side is perfect. Maybe a cold pasta salad as well.

What to serve-lunch
My friend grabbed a rotisserie chicken and a ceased salad and shredded the chicken up over the salad. It was great

I agree with the cold cuts. Probably the widest range of options. My dad made BLT wrap/pinwheels for mothers day that were a big hit.

My mind went straight to BLT's too! With all the yummy tomatoes in season right now you can't go wrong. You could do that and get cold cuts too along with a green salad, fruit and maybe pasta salad.
Another route would be going more brunch. You could make a quiche, fruit, salad, and get bagels and cold cuts.

Re: What to serve-lunch
One time I did a bunch of breaded chicken cutlets ahead of time, and I served it over a green salad for the moms.
I made homemade mac and cheese for the kids and they also ate the cutlets.
Everything was made in advance, chicken was served room temp, and I just had to heat up the mac and cheese before they came.
I feel like kids would be more interested in playing than eating, so sandwiches or frozen pizza or something would probably be fine. Something they can eat quickly/grab and go. Instead of sandwiches, for the kids, you could also do pinwheel wraps and slice them up. They are good to make in advance, wrap in plastic wrap, and then just slice before serving.
If you don't want to make chicken - the rotisserie chicken with salad is a good idea. I have also done a few types of quiche with a green salad. It's light, and you can do one meatless (like spinach and feta or broccoli or cheddar) and one with meat.

Re: What to serve-lunch
The local vegtable store by me sells a nice foccacia (most delis or bakery will have it) little extra virgin olive oil, salt pepper, crushed tomatos, shredded mozerella cheese, pop in oven @ 350 for a little bit. You can add any other topping but this is such an easy go to lunch.
big tossed salad.
