What to wear to a wake?
Does DH need to wear a suit, or is a sport jacket with slack ok? Do I need to wear a dress or suit?

A sport jacket with a dress shirt and slacks is fine. Family and those very close to the deceased will wear suits. Suits are nice, but a sport coat is perfectly fine.
"Business casual" or a suit for women. Dress slacks or a skirt with a dressy top is fine. A dress is also fine.

a sports jacket and slacks are fine for a wake- I usually try and wear a dark colored dress or pants and a dress shirt hth

For me it depends on my relationship with the deceased.
Family/close friends - either a suit or slacks and dress shirt & tie for dh and pants and a blouse or skirt for me.
More distant people - I usually wear slack and a blouse and DH usually weares dress jeans and nice shirt or slacks and a shirt.
But, there really is no dress code. You will have people dressed over the top and those who wear shorts and flip flops.
