Re: what type of job is this ?
Is it Long Island or NYC?
Sounds like teaching assistants that are paid under a specific program.

Re: what type of job is this ?
Title I is money that schools/districts receive from the federal and state governments to implement No Child Left Behind... basically after or before school tutoring, small group sessions, etc. IA sounds like instructional aide, so it sounds like you would be assisting the teacher for this, although I am not sure.
When i do programs through Title I at my school, we earn the hrouly rate for teachers whcih is $62.75. i don't know what the rate is if it's an aide.

Re: what type of job is this ?
I did this in Connetquot UFSD for a month...the pay was not wonderful considering it was not full time, but it was good experience and a lot of the IAs became subs and leaves during the year

Re: what type of job is this ?
no, because you have to plan appropriate lessons and implement, you are essentially a part time teacher (18 hours a week max) and can sub the rest of the time if there are positions that fit your schedule. (At least this is how it was in Connetquot)

yep. this is what it sounds like.
this is what I was told
***** IA’s work in our elementary buildings providing academic intervention either one-on-one or in small groups. Generally the hours are spread over a four day week at 4.5 hours per day. Thanks for your interest.
