If you are taking prescription pre-natals, which ones are you taking?

What time of day do you take it?

How does it make you feel?

So I just picked up a 30 day supply of Gesticare and it costs $40!!!

Is that normal?

How much do your pre-natals cost per month?

Also, 1mg of folic equals 1000mcg, right?

OB 400 or something like that.

I take them at night and they don't bother me at all. I usually take them with a cracker just b/c all capsules seem to "float" up on me.

I take gesticare dha and have had no issues EXCEPT when I took it on an empty stomach!! Otherwise they are great!

I used to take them at night but I started taking them after breakfast/lunch and I prefer it because then I know I'm done with pills for the day!

I also take an extra 1mg of folic acid, as per my OB's recommendation. He said it's impt to get a lot of it and any extra you have will just get peed out!

I tried about 10 different samples from my doctor for about 5 days each before I chose which prescription to get. Some of them made me severely ill!

I ended up choosing Prenate Essential. They're easy to swallow, only one pill, and I don't get stomach sickness from them at all. They also don't seem to bind me up or the opposite.

CitraNatal Assure. They don't bother me at all. I take them at different times but generally more around dinner time.

I take OB Natal - its just one big soft gel pill - i take it with dinner

I can't remember the exact name its OB something. I have read on here a lot of people actually had a hard time with them, but I just take it right before bed, and I haven't had an issue.
I want to say its OB 800 or something like that

I take CitraNatal which has a stool softner in it. I know that's kind of an overshare but my friends who have had children said it's very important to have because pregnancy can cause issues there. I love the vitamins, but my only complaint is how large they are. Like horse pills! lol

Just be careful adding folic acid if there already is some in your prenatal. Talk to your doctor about it first because you're also not supposed to have too much from what I understand. And you do get some in your diet naturally, depending on what you eat.

You're right about the folic acid question..

I actually can't remember what mine cost but I will be picking up a new script tonight or tomorrow so I'll let you know! I get them in a 3 months supply.

Also, mine are Gesticare DHA (they come with the DHA in a seperate gelcap!)

$35/mo

My prescription plan is $10/$15/$35 or something like that. Most prenatals and other prescription vitamins are non-preferred so I pay the top rate of $35. I think they are originally $67. (per the sticker on the box)

Mine is $35/month. The pharmacist was actually surprised it was so much and called me to warn me, which I thought was sweet of her.

I haven't been on the pill in a really long time, but I remember that being $30/mo so I guess this isn't that big a deal. I also like them better than the OTC pills, so I'm up for paying it.

Don't forget to get your total Out of Pocket meds costs at the end of the calendar year from your pharmacy (they can just print it for you). It's tax deductible.
