what was he doing?

Last night I tried to get to bed early...I gave him his FF at 10..getting myself into bed a little before 11... ( I usually give Ryan his formula feeding right before bed.. and watch him closely for the first half hour because sometimes he spits that first f.f up)

As soon as I got into bed Ryan started crying...I thought to myself "he cant be hungry he just ate"... However thats exactly what he wanted.. so I nursed him (he did about 15min. on one side and 10 on another) He started to fall asleep so I put him in his bassinett..again that same Im hungry, so Im gonna **** on anything that comes near my face cry!

So Dh took him and gave him a bottle of bm...then some more formula, then I tried to nurse etc...

This non stop eating frenzy lasted until 2 am... All I kept thinking was his little tummy can not handle all this food..

He usually has a ff. at 12 and we all go into the bedroom about 12:30..(and for the past few nights)he then wakes around 2/230 and then I dont hear from him until 5:30/6 or sometimes he eats @ 12 and he dosent make a peep til 4....

After his eating frenzy he woke up again 2 hrs later @ 4 then again @ 7...how could his little tummy take all this food...

What was this all about?

Sounds like a growth spurt to me! How did he eat during the day? Did he keep down all that yummy food? Is he around 1 month? That usually happens between week 2-4.

he'll be 2 weeks tomorrow...

He kept down everything...I was actually scared to change his diaper this morning...but it was his usual...

Yesterday during the day he ate fine ...about every 2hrs... sometimes he would only drink half his bottle and wake a half hour later for the other half...nothing unusual..last night was crazy!!

Right now he eats every 2 hrs... about 1 1/2 -2 oz

should I start offering him 4oz every 4 hrs??? or 3 every 3 hrs... or just more every 2 hrs???

give him what he demads, I would bet he is going through a growth spurt, and if I remember correctly he was a big boy when he was born, so he will need more than the average newborn. If he can start tolerating bigger feeds, give it to him, it can't hurt and if he can't tolerate it he'll spit it up! Good for him!!! He's a growin' boy!

I just cant keep him from falling asleep...whether we are nursing or he is having Bm in a bottle... he falls asleep b4taking the whole thing...

ETA: he was 7-12 @ 2 weeks early....

Could be a growth spurt... have you tried a pacifier though.... sometimes they just need to **** to relax.... Mallory wanted to nurse allllll the time until we started using a pacifier.
