What would be the best cell phone option in this case?
My parents got rid of their email (Don't ask, long story) and now love how I can send pics and video through cell phones. But, they have a very basic phone plan. I even think they pay a certain amount each month for just 50 minutes of service.
Now they are asking about what it would cost to get a new phone plan, with very low minutes and ability to get pics and video. I said I knew some plans cost X per pix message and Y for texts. They were looking more for a plan that would be cheap for a basic amount of minutes and pix messages.
Does this exist? I truly wanted to just add them onto our plan for $9.99 per month, but DH is freaking out that we can't do that. They live upstate and he doesn't want to be arrested.
TIA for your answers!

not sure why you DH is freaking out. I am prettry sure you can add anyone to your plan and they dont ahve to be living with you even be family. I know i have done this in the past
If you dont want to add them you could just ask for the lowest minutes plan and see what text message plans are offered.
I know At&t has a 250 message plan for I think about $5 a month. i am sure other companies have something smililar

Why does he think he would get in trouble for this?
My DD lives out of state and is on our family plan.

its not illegal to have them on your family plan. my parents are on our plan and cut us a check twice a year. they have NY-area codes and we have ours based here in the DC area. As long as you are paying the bill, there's no problem.
If you get them on your plan by adding their lines, get an unlimited data plan for the entire account. It will make it so much easier. You will not save money trying to find them a "cheap plan" b/c it does not exist. Bare min, you are looking at $60 per month once you add up all of the taxes and charges for them. Much cheaper to add them to your acct and have them reimburse.

I am going to talk with DH again. It's not like we are trying to add a random teenager that could screw us with overage.
