What would you do????

We have a bassinet in our family that has been passed down for generations. Each time a new baby is born the bassinet is redone in Satin and lace and looks really pretty. Well last night when i was in Behr's I saw a really nice cradle which looks bigger and could probably be used for a longer period of time.....So what do i do.....stick with the bassinet because it is tradition or do i go for the cradle which i would prefer? I need to make a decision soon since the bassinet could take time to come in

Stick with your family's tradition...they take great pride in it. I am using a bassinette that is over 60 years old! It's beautiful though and it means a lot since so many relatives have been in it...including my Dad.

I am guessing the bassinet or cradle will only be used for maybe 3 or 4 months at the most, so I would stick with tradition and use the bassinet.

I agree ... stick with your families tradition. The bassinet sounds beautiful, why waste $$ on a cradle.

Congratulations!!!!!

I totally agree with everyone else. This is a beautiful tradition that your family has and since the baby will only use the bassinet for a short period of time, it doesn't make much sense for you to get another one.

I love traditions like that and WISH I had something similar in my family. It's your preference, but I think the symbolism of that bassinet is priceless!!Chat Icon

I also agree. We are also using a family heirloom that my dad and all his brothers used as well as my cousins, their kids, my nephew, and me!!
