What would you do?

Yesterday I received a phone call for a position that I applied to and I cant remember what the position was for.

I did a google search, checked their website and all the sites that I use to apply for jobs and was unsuccessful in locating the original ad.

I called the company back and the women I scheduled didnt mention the position title. When I asked for alittle more detail she was very broad. I didnt want to ask too many questions, because I didnt want to ruin my chances. Anyways I scheduled the interview for tomorrow (Fri) afternoon.

Well this afternoon (Thurs) I received a phone call from a company that I had already interviewed for and was verbally offered the position, pending on references, criminal background check and drug test. They offered a better salary than I thought they would and their benefits, sick and vacation time is a lot more than any other company that I have interviewed for.

Now, do you think I should go on this interview tomorrow or should I not, due to the offer that I received today?

I think that everything should turn out fine with the criminal and drug test. Its the references that scare me. Im scared that my previous employer or one of my references will say something bad. Its not like I left a position without giving notice or that I did anything wrong.

To make it worse, Im leaving for vacation on Monday, so Im just afraid that I get a negative from one of my references and I wont find out until Im back from vacation that I didnt get the job.

Im sooooooo scared.
(BTW, I am a big pessimistic person and think the worst about every situation)

Sorry so long, just wondered what you girls would do.

Thanks

in that case I guess it wouldn't hurt to go to the interview. You never know.

I would go on the interview since it's already scheduled and it can't hurt. You may like this company more then the one you received an offer from.

But why would your references say anything negative?

Its not my references. I have good relationships with those whom I've put down as reference.
Im more concerned about them contacting my last employer.... not too sure the proper protocol for reference checks...... My last employer would always get bent out of shape and take it personally when someone left. When I told him I was leaving he was very upset, saying he based some of his decision making on me being employed there.

Im just scared he may say something negative even tho I worked by Butt off for his company.
