Re: What would you do

It's hard to say without knowing the details of the first incident that caused the rift in the friendships.

That said, if a kid threw ANYTHING at DC and the other parent did not address it properly, there is NO WAY we would be playing with them.

It sounds as if the friendship has run its course. I've explained to DS (who is 5) that some kids aren't great at being friends and often times we need to find other kids to play with.

Re: What would you do

As my kids are getting older I am struggling with similar situations. I feel like the "family" friends we made when the kids were in pre-k are starting to change as the kids change. It saddens me so much to see how people get as things become more competitive and groups start to form. I'll be honest and say that I don't usually say anything the way you did - I have learned that people see their kids in their own light and generally don't take kindly to ANY criticism even when it is deserved. I feel like it is you that should start putting the distance rather than worrying about it being the other way around. It doesn't sound like the greatest situation for you or your son. I know it is hard though Chat Icon

With the second incident - I don't understand why you got so upset if it was an accident. I mean I understand to be a little upset but to walk away when it wasn't intentional and the father did address it? Or am I missing some dialogue from the story.

To be honest it seems like you are the one that's done with the friendship. I think you have a problem with them or don't like some of their parenting styles, which, is fine and I'm sure you're justified. I would just go with the flow and focus on the other friendships you have.
