What would you do? Carseat/booster seat related
As some of you may remember, I will be going back to work for 3-4 weeks. My DDs will be going to their grandmothers' homes. DH will be taking them and I'll be picking them up.
As the situation stands now, I have 2 Roundabouts in my car and DH has one--whenever we take the 2 girls out, we're in my car.
We just switched Abby to the Roundabout this weekend--she is about 22-23lbs and was busting out of the infant carrier. She just didn't fit properly anymore. OK, now the question...
Would you...
A) install the Snugride back in DH's car for the time being even with Abby really not fitting in it.
B) buy a booster seat for Katherine for DH's car, knowing we'll need it eventually anyway. She is technically too small at age 2 for a booster, but would only be driving a mile to each grandmother's house for less than a month.
I don't want to buy another convertible carseat.

You are not going to like my answer but I would get another convertible car seat. Even if its a short distance, its usually where the most accidents happen- near your home. Do you have a consignment shop nearby or a friend you could borrow one from for a little bit?

I also agree but you can get a carseat/booster. I have this one as a booster for my 5 yr old son. We bought it bc it has a 5 pt harness till he is 65 lbs. You can use it safely use it from 22 lbs and up. I highly recommend it if you didn't know which booster you wanted to begin with.

I would put the snugride in DH's car. If you warm up the car and just put a fleece jacket on her she should be good and the distance is so close that she should be ok.

Yes but if she's busting out of it, she's too big for it. That has safety implications that shouldn't be disregarded however short the travel distance. JMO

Can you buy another carseat on clearance or borrow one from a friend?

I agree with the convertible seat responders. The infant carrier is definitely a no-go. She's at or above the safety limit, so that's not a good choice. She's too young for a booster seat, so that's definitely not a good choice, either.
The only safe option is to get another convertible seat. Many go up to 65 lbs, and some go up to 80lbs, so they will last a long time.

Target had the 3 in 1 on clearance by Safety first. It can be used as a rear facing, forward facing and then booster with the seatbelt.
We just picked up one on clearance at buy buy baby for Grandma's car.

the weight limit for the snugride is 25 lbs i believe...is she 25 lbs already?
I would use the snugride for the time being with a thinner jacket

Re: What would you do? Carseat/booster seat related
BRU had an Evenflo carseat on sale this week for like $60, I think. Not too expensive and a good option for a spare carseat.
