What would you do if you were very unhappy at your job?
and were there for more than 4 years, but became very unhappy since January.. would you, stick it out to see if things change? The office is not a happy place at all, people are not getting along.. the entire office morale is pretty bad..BUT, it's a place where it's very flexible. Would you start looking now? Would you wait until the economy get better? This could be awhile though...
What would you do?
PS almost everyone is unhappy at the office where I am..

Re: What would you do if you were very unhappy at your job?
I used to think that if you are that unhappy at a job you need to leave...because something better will come along eventually and it's not worth being miserable about. However, being someone who got laid off unexpectedly last year and having it take almost 3 months to find a new job (in a different field no less) I would never leave a job without having one lined up because you never know when you're going to find something else! Good luck to you!

Re: What would you do if you were very unhappy at your job?
I recently went though the same thing as you except that I did not make it to 4 years. It was a new job for me & I was unhappy right away. I gave it 7 months & DH & I spoke about it & we decided I should resign & I could my time & find a new job while being home.
If you guys can swing your bills for a little while while you are looking for a new job, I say do what will make you happy.

Aww thanks! It couldn't have come at a worse time.. I was getting married in 4 months, so I was freaking out. I took a job in a related field, but often wonder whether I settled for a job to just have a job, you know? Have you been shopping your resume around?

I have been there and found another, BETTER job. There IS better out there. Work takes up so much of our lives, why be unhappy?

Re: What would you do if you were very unhappy at your job?
I wouldn't leave till I had something else lined up, however I think we work in the same office. I'll be 5 years in Septemeber, but I'm miserable. The only reasons I'm staying for now is our health insurance is through me and I'd lose a lot in my 401K if I leave before September. Hope you find something new and better soon!!

Unless the situation is absolutely unbearable, I wouldn't quit until I had something lined up...we just hired a girl who starts this upcoming tuesday who was interviewed April 18th! Hiring process here is loooong!

i would slowly start looking. nothing wrong with seeing what's out there. at least you'll have the comfort of knowing that you're doing something proactive.
good luck to you... been there

Re: What would you do if you were very unhappy at your job?
If the whole place is miserable, is there an underlyng reason? Is there something that can be changed? I've been with the same company for almsot 10 years, and it has definitely had its ups & downs, as things have changed in the way the busines is run.

I would leave. Go somewhere you will be happier. No sense in dredding going into work everyday.

Re: What would you do if you were very unhappy at your job?
i wouldn't quit until i had something else lined up, but i would definitely start looking. As far as the economy, i guess it depends on your job. If there's a high turnover in your field, or if it's vulnerable to market changes, maybe i'd try to stick it out, otherwise, why stay in a miserable place?

Re: What would you do if you were very unhappy at your job?
I was at my last job for only a year but i was EXTREMELY unhappy there. There was absolutely no future in it and I felt like a loser working there and the owners were just ridiculous. They way the company was run was insane. I made sure i found another job before i quit though. Now i probably could not be happier. I really love my new job. SO far it's only been two weeks so we'll see but so far so good I don't see myself hating it down the line.

Re: What would you do if you were very unhappy at your job?
i think if you're REALLY unhappy then just start sending out your resume to see what's out there. BUT, do not quit until you have something new lined up and you are 100% sure that it is the right job for you. dont just take the first thing offered to you because you want to get out of this current one. because you never know, you might hate it more than what you have right now.
