What would you do? Testing results...
Need advice. Trying to figure out what our next steps are. Hoping someone on here can share their experience.
-I'm 36. -Had NIPS (or M21) done at 10 weeks. Everything came back fine/negative -Nuchal was fine -Today I got a call that my 2nd part of the sequential showed a 1:275 risk for downs because my estriol level is low.
Would you go for an amnio based on the sequential information?

Re: What would you do? Testing results...
She basically said she wouldn't do further testing... But that she obviously can't say that and needs to present me with all the info

No I don't think I'd do an amino based on that.

Re: What would you do? Testing results...
No I would not. I believe the NIPS is more accurate since it’s testing the actual dna. I also had a bad experience with a false positive on the AFP test. I had like a 1:20 risk of open neural tube defects and my DS was born totally healthy.

I personally wouldn’t do anything evasive. The results you got would be good enough for me plus your doctor telling you she doesn’t think it is necessary. I don’t know you but if it is something that will add stress to your pregnancy it might be better to get it done for piece of mind. I know some people wanted information so if they needed a specialist they could research one sooner rather than later. It’s a very personal decision and you need to follow your gut.

Re: What would you do? Testing results...
That’s a far less than 1% chance, so no I wouldn’t do anything.
In general I think people get a bit caught up in these things since it’s issues we can specifically test for that can provide us black or white answers.

I Agee with this. It is a personal decision. I would not do anything invasive.

I agree that it's a very personal decision. It doesn't matter what any of us would do.
Technology is advanced that the more invasive testing is much safer than it once was. If you are going to be super stressed the rest of the pregnancy, it may be worth doing an extra test for the piece of mind. It really depends on who you are and how you are handling this. Good luck! I am sure your baby is healthy, but it sucks to have any doubt!

This. I personally needed to know with 100% definitive answers. I'ts the type of person I am. I'm riddled with anxiety and stress. I went right for an amnio because i needed to know. The test was fine, if done by an expert in the field, it's actually very very safe. But there are people who would never do it regardless of preliminary results, and that is fine too. It really all comes down to your comfort level and what you need to make you feel relaxed
