What would you oay for hair/makeup NOT for a wedding?
I am thinking of getting my hair/makeup done for DD's Christening, but I have to get it done in my neighborhood because of time constraints etc. I found one place that charges 100 bucks for makeup application and 90 for an updo/formal hair. Of course, this would not be as formal as a wedding do, but something half up/half down. Would you spend that cash?

Honestly, that sounds a little steep to me. My salon charges more like $60ish for each.

I would do a blow out and make-up. A blow out is less and it will help you to look more polished, as opposed to "done".
The make-up sounds high, and I am used to high prices, but I bet it's "free" when you purchase $100 worth of make-up-- I say that just cause of the price.

To much for me.....I live in Mi so I would go to my Spa get makeup done for free if I spend $35 and then get a simple blow out and curl for $35. That's the max

If it's something that you want to do, I would go for it. I wouldn't - only because I think I do a good job with my makeup. I would consider getting my hair done though. I always wear it the same boring way.
Do they give you a free trial for the makeup - I would be afraid they would put way too much on.

Re: What would you oay for hair/makeup NOT for a wedding?
My makeup for my wedding cost $100, if it was just me getting it done & I think that was the standard rate, regardless of occasion.
$90 for hair seems high though. Even for my wedding, I payed less than that. I thought updos were more like $45.

Sure why not, but NOT for $190! Is there a mall near you where you could get your makeup done? You could buy some of the products and it will be free . Then you can go and get the updo.
