what would you spend for a 30th b-day gift?
Tis is for a friend of mine- not a best friend, but a good friend. Her b-day was this past weekend and DH couldn't get a sitter, so we're having her over for dinner tomorrow night and I want to buy her something. We will also be going out this coming weekend for her surprise party at a martini bar where we'll be paying $40pp. What would you spend? I'm thinking in the $50 range?

That sounds perfect, or even a bit high with everything else you are doing.
I don't think you should ever spend more than you can afford - is a good friend really going to be upset because "you didn't spend enough"?

I know what you mean. My only concern was she was there yesterday when DH gave his friend and his girlfriend a housewarming gift and they were fairly expensive Tiffany candlesticks. I just don't want her to feel slighted.

Man, I hate those situations - but I really do think $50 would be fine with everyting else you are doing. What if you treated her to a date for a manicure and lunch? Then she gets pampered and gets to hang out with a friend?

I was thinking $50 before I read all the other stuff you're doing...so i'd say it's more than fine !

$50-$75 for a good friend, more for my best friend.
