What would you wear to a university graduation (commencement)
if you were the one graduating, with a doctorate?
I have no idea what to wear. I don't want to wear a suit but do you think I have/need to?
I remember for undergrad commencement I wore a pretty dress with open toed sandals (but it was warm and mid/late May), this graduation is very early May.
I don't want to under dress or over dress. Crazy thing is that I already have my DS' outfit (he's 2.5), he's wearing tan linen pants with a blue blazer

Adorable!
I wouldn't wear a suit just because I feel like that's too stuffy. I would wear a nice dress and sandals or heels depending on the weather though. Even a nice pair of flats! There's no telling with this damn weather anymore though! One day it's 50s the next 80s!

I wore a sleeveless dress and open sandals. Is there a lot of walking? For my undergrad commencement, we walked allllll around campus, and my feet were killing me, so wear comfy shoes. The doctoral gowns are also reallllllyyyy heavy, so I would wear something lightweight.
I was trying to find pics from mine, but I don't think any women wore a suit, only dresses I believe.

I wore a dress to my doctorate graduation. The silly looking robes (mine was red and yellow and I felt like a court jester) can get HOT. I wore open toed shoes.
If you are worried about it being cold, maybe wear tights with heels and a cardigan over your dress.

I wore a navy short sleeve dress and sandals. Mainly you are wearing your regalia, and it gets very hot.

I didn't wear a suit, just a crepe top, a skirt and beige heels. Your gown will be what everyone mainly sees. Congrats!!!

When I graduated from law school I wore a light weight skirt suit. Most of the other women wore suits as well. All of the men wore suits.
