What's a good place for a short vacation???
DH and I are looking to take a mini-vacation for a few days at the end of October. Doesn't matter if we have to fly or not. Any recommendations?

Re: What's a good place for a short vacation???
My #1 easy to go to spot is Miami, but with all these storms I would be iffy to book.
A lot of people say Vegas, but it doesn't do anything for me.
I am dying to go to Jackson Hole, WY. My brother and sister went last year. There is so much to do there.

Ohh fun! Flying or driving? Are you bringing Christopher? If you aren't bringing him, G and I went to Caesar's Poconos Palace We had a room with our own pool...It was so fun! And not far either, a 3 hour drive. If you are thinking about flying, we got $49 each way to FL on Southwest.

This place is near my dad's house, and is gorgeous--beautiful foliage there in the fall. I want to stay at this bed and breakfast when we go to Amy's wedding in June in Ithaca--it's beautiful there too and very romantic, but probably a 4-5 hour drive.

Mohonk is so gorgeous, I want to stay there some day.
DH and I drove past La Tourelle this summer- we stayed at a little B&B that was more "off the beaten path" but we may stay there the next time we're in the area as it looked really nice. And the Finger Lakes wineries are not too far away.

I second Lake George! We were just there in August & loved it SO much we booked again for next summer! We stayed at Cornerstone Victorian .!!! It was beautiful! And the drive is only like 4 hours from Long Island! And the rates were really reasonable....

Cape Cod is beautiful at that time of year. A little blustery, but not frigid. And all of the crowds have subsided at that point. I love anywhere in Mass. in the fall.

Re: What's a good place for a short vacation???
Southwest has one way fares for $49.
If you are thinking for a short vacation, Naples FL is awesome. Sarasota, FL is great too because it has Siesta Key which is the number 3 beach in the US, St. Armands circle which has a ton of great shopping, The Daiquirie deck which is on the beach has great drinks, and downtown Sarasota has great shopping.
Captiva and Sanibel Island which is near Fort Myers has a wonderful beach and shopping. Captiva I believe is still undergoing renovations from Charlie, but it's a very small town where everyone is nice and great shopping.
Massachusets is very nice. A lot of history in that state. Boston and Springfield are great little towns. Springfield I dont know if it is still going on but they had this huge fair called "the Big E" It would take you a few days just to walk around the entire thing.
Penn is always nice this time of the year because of the nice countryness, peacefullness and the foliage.
