It's used to make hard, clear bottles. The 'cloudy' looking translucent ones USUALLY do not have BPA, but you have to read the label to truly know. There are conflicting reports about if it is dangerous or not. It's kinda one of those subject areas where you have to do the research and decide how you individually feel about as a parent. If you search for BPA on this site I'm sure you'll come across several threads about it. There have been some good discussions concerning BPA on the Parenting board.
