If you go by 2pm you will get close. Might want to consider an adult diapers, as once you are in one of the pens, you will not be able to leave. Unless you are good at holding pee for 10 hours! That is my worst nightmare. My perfect NYE is sitting on couch, drinking, watching Twilight Zone Marathon, but tonight I'm going to my cousin who is doing a party.

Yupppppp. I would never in a million years go! But then I go Black Friday shopping every year and people think that's bananas! It's all perspective.
My ILs host NYE every year. We used to dress up and then everyone had kids, so we've decided to make it a pajama party. We play games, eat, drink, and stay up until about 12:01.

You couldn't pay me enough money to go to that disaster. I mean it would have to be life changing money. Life changing. Like Jeff Bezos kind of money. Get on the train now if you want to get close.
We will go out to dinner tonight locally and then home. I don't want to be out anywhere on amateur night. We don't do anything tomorrow

I would NEVER consider going to Times Square for NYE, but if you decide to go, Good Luck!
I'm going over a friend's house. There will just be a few of us - apps, wine and watching the ball drop on TV. Nothing crazy.
(Last year I went to a comedy club which was a lot of fun. Show ended just before midnight and they did a champagne toast at midnight)
Tomorrow I am going to brunch with a group of friends

I can't even imagine any scenario that would make me want to go to Times Square on NYE. You would have to get there super early and then not go to the bathroom for hours. Nightmare.
My kids are at my parents so my DH and I are going out to dinner with a few friends and then tomorrow going to my parents - they always have people over on New Year's Day.

Re: What's everyone doing tonight and new years
We're doing what we do every year, relaxing at home in our pj's. I have ZERO desire to go out on NYE. Restaurants are a rip off tonight and I do not like to be on the roads tonight, too many drunk a$$holes are out and about. Cozy at home is an ideal NYE for me.

Re: What's everyone doing tonight and new years
I’ve always wanted to go to see the ball drop, but I think I would probably have an anxiety attack. So, no.
SO and I are staying in and I’m making cheese fondue and we are doing a small Abendbrot plate of sliced sausage (cold cuts here) with condiments. We’ll have creme brûlée for dessert.
Then we will probably watch “Dinner for One”. I don’t get that tradition at all, but it’s only 15 mins of my time, so whatever. Maybe I’ll get it this year.
Then at midnight we will have champagne and watch the fireworks from our balcony.
I have no desire to go out. It’s too much money, and I like my cheese fondue .

We are staying home. I don’t like going out on NYE. Too many drunk people on the road. We usually get Chinese food for dinner.
As PP said, you couldn’t pay me to go to Times Square. The only people I know who got to the ball drop are my family members who are cops so they have to go.

Re: What's everyone doing tonight and new years
I did Times Square twice when I was 21 & 22 (20 years ago). It was really an amazing experience. But...we had reservations at a restaurant in Times Square & didn’t go outside until 11:30pm. My friend worked for MTV at the time & showed his credentials to a cop lol, and he let us through a barricade & we had the best viewing spot! We did the same thing the next year too. Seeing all the confetti fall at midnight was amazing & the energy is indescribable. I would totally do it again if I didn’t have to stand there for hours lol

Re: What's everyone doing tonight and new years
I say if it's something you always wanted to do then go for it. I pee WAAAAY too much to want to go and not be near a bathroom. I am NOT ready for an adult diaper either. LOL Plus, i hate being cold too.
We have been going to a neighbors the last few years with the boys. They are getting older and are really into it now (10 and 8). A couple of other families come, we play games, drink, eat and the kids all go play in the basement and have fun. Looking forward to being right around the corner from my house. Will bring pajamas for the kids and usually leave around 12:30

Re: What's everyone doing tonight and new years
i went to times square back, a million years ago. i believe i was 24 or 25. i went with my cousin and a few of her friends. my fears were the cold and peeing.
luckily, one of the girls in the group was a princess and demanded we go to a diner to eat (which kept us warm and close to a rest room). obviously, we didn't end up too close.
it was a fun night spent with my cousin. i can say i did it. would i ever do it again? hell to the no!
if you do decide to go, i hope you have a great time.
as for us... there's a slim chance that SO's best buddy might come over. if he does, we'll have apps and a little booze. if he doesn't come over, i'll be in my pajamas by 8pm. i'm fighting off a bit of a cold and would rather be in bed, under the blankets.

What's everyone doing tonight and new years
You couldn't pay me to go to times square, either! I love seeing it all on tv. The last time we went out was 1999-2000 new year. Since then, we do an early dinner (like 5) and I make a ton of snacks for the "ball drop" that starts at 10:00. Someone usually comes over (my parents or inlaws) We eat, drink, watch the ball drop and then go to bed. My kids pass out by 10 lol

What's everyone doing tonight and new years
Just us and the kids. We are ordering in dinner, making ice cream sundaes for dessert, playing some games, and watching a movie. We have sparkling apple cider for the kids. This is the one night they are allowed to stay up until midnight if they can make it.

What's everyone doing tonight and new years
I saw the ball drop once on Y2K. We had to work overnight (we were by times square) because everyone thought the world was coming to an end so we got to go up to the roof with bottles of champagne and saw the whole thing with a bunch of snipers lol. It was awesome. The company treated us to a lobster dinner beforehand since we were stuck there and nice hotel reservations.
Now I'm home in my PJs with the family. Tomorrow we go out to dinner with my parents. We've been going to same restaurant on New Years for about 40 years!

never went for NYE, but I did go once for the tree lighting in high school with a couple of friends and it was really amazing. I probably wouldn't go for NYE ever, but if I did I'm sure it's incredible
