Whats happening? In the past 2 hours, he has been screaming and crying uncontrollably!
Doesn't want to eat (he did eat a lot today - and pooped a lot!!!) Even when we hold him and do all of our "tricks" he keeps crying and crying!
I rubbed lavendar lotion on him to calm him down - he stops to fall asleep because he exhausts hismelf, and then wakes up again...
I am thinking maybe because he pooped so much today his tummy is bothering him?
also - could it be because it is getting warm out and maybe he's not used to it?
ETA - DH is with him now - I needed a break!

Did you try putting him in the infant carrier and wearing him around the house? Poor baby. Maybe his belly is hurting if he pooped a lot. Does he have a diaper rash?

Honestly, it could just be him letting off steam. Babies definitely have a "witching" hour, that can sometimes last for a few hours. Hang in there and make sure that you and DH switch off to give each other a break. Does he have a fever at all? I'm sure you checked, but just incase you didn't....

I hope it doesn't become a pattern. That's how my DD started with colic. It came out of nowhere at about a month old. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's just an upset stomach.

My son was colic, he did that several nights a week... I would try the swing if you havent already. Also, and it probably sounds crazy, but try taking his clothes off if nothing else helps. I read that somewhere and tried it, it worked sometimes. At times nothing worked... Just hang in there. Hopefully it is just a one time thing.

Re: Whats happening? In the past 2 hours, he has been screaming and crying uncontrollably!
Well, my daughter didn't have colic, and we still had a few nights like that. I'd say that between a month and two months are just HARD, and there are times when they freak out and you just can't figure out why.
No fever, fed already, gave him mylicon (maybe gas?) also sometimes i used to rub the bottoms of her feet. I heard it could help, so I'd lay her on the bed between my legs and rub the bottoms of her feet with my thumbs, and for some reason it would calm her down....
i would also sit on the end of the bed and kinda bounce with her in my arms.
just keep comforting him if it seems like nothing else is wrong. i hope it passes quickly!

Re: Whats happening? In the past 2 hours, he has been screaming and crying uncontrollably!
Well, he eventually simmered down and fell asleep...
As Barbara asked - I think he really was over tired more than anything else - he woke up this morning at 2, sort of catnapped until 4, and then we were pretty much up - I took a long walk today, and he napped during most of it, but then for the rest of the day he was pretty much up - and very happy! We played and played all day together... he was very engaged and interactive... about an hr before DH got home, he started with the crying... I handed him off to DH to deal with - usually he is very calm with DH, but he just howled and howled... he would take the bottle, then push it away - it was like he didnt know what he wanted - like a tired 2 yr old, only at 5 weeks old!
He is fast asleep now!
I actually did take off his onesie for a little bit, whcih he liked - rubbed him with lavendar and put more Arbonne diaper cream on his tush, which he liked a lot...

Could have been the heat. DS didnt eat well today either and was more fussy than usual. Glad to hear he has calmed down and doing better.
