What's left to do? I'm such a planner, i just want everything SET!
I've had sporadic contractions and lost some plug, so I'm getting readyyyyyy! Dr said she thinks he'll def be here by the end of July.
So far, this is what's done:
* The nursery is set up (with the exception of the crib that's not in yet). We have a PnP in it's place. Sheets are washed and in place.
* Baby clothes, extra sheets, blankets are all washed and put away in his dresser
* Made list for my hospital bag - most items are already in the bag, but there are some other things that can only go in last minute, like some makeup, etc.
* Stocked up on frozen food so DH has stuff to eat when we're first home with the baby
* got a haircut - figured it's going to be a while!
* got batteries for the swing, bouncy seat, monitor, etc.
* started insurance paperwork for both my short-term disability AND adding the baby to health insurance. can't complete until we have date of birth.
* made appt to have car seat inspected by the state troopers
-------------------------------------------------------
still have to wash/sterilize the bottles/nipples, but you come home with some from the hospital at first anyway, right?
Thanks!

I'm a big cleaner, so I'd want the bathroom scrubbed down, tub and all, since I don't see myself doing that as soon as I get home from the hospital.
Also, take all the wipes, desitin, medicine droppers, nail clippers, q-tips, rubbing alcohol, etc. out of thier packaging. You don't need to be fussing with plastic wrapping and safety seals when you're changing diapers!
And for me, I'd enjoy all the ice cream, cookies and cakes now, before the baby comes. Because I know my guilt will get the best of me after he is born, and I wont enjoy eating them as much!

Did you make a telephone list of people to call to let them know that you are in labor? Include the pediatrician and insurance co on that list so you can add the baby to the policy.
Find all chargers/batteries/film for the camera and video camera and put them in your hospital bag.
Put your baby journal or thing for footprints in the hospital bag.

Just a word of advice...get more batteries! I was over how many batteries we were going through and how everything needed batteries, espeically C and D sized ones. If you think you have enough, you probably don't!

get some really big granny panties just incase you have a c-section. I needed some big enough to hold 2 pads and pull up high enough over my incision. Thats the one thing I wasn't prepared for. (I know, sexy right?)

Nic - go get some Viva papertowels. In the beginning they tell you to use wet Viva's in place of wipes. I did this for about two weeks. If you really want to organize you can fold them and stack them so that you're all ready for when the baby comes home!
When is your actual due date?
Maybe cook some food to freeze that way you can just defrost when you get home?
Oh - and don't forget, steal as much as you can from the hospital. They give out these great vaseline wipes for the circumsion that are so easy to use. Take those bad boys. Really, take anything that is not nailed down. Bring an extra bag to the hospital to fill up with the goods.
You may want to bring your boppy also. That was a big help - especially with a c-section.
ETA: Did you pack snacks in your hospital bag? This was the best thing I did. I would of course get hungry for something after everyone left. I brought the apple sauce singles and some rice krispie treats. Those worked just enough to fill me up if I needed something!

Re: What's left to do? I'm such a planner, i just want everything SET!
ok - i didn't even think to pack snacks! Thanks!!! I have 100 cal packs and small bags of honeywheat pretzels and stuff like that. SB Hospital also has a patient fridge that's always stocked with yogurt for a snack, too.
Official due date WAS 8/12, moved to 7/30, and Dr said she thinks definitely by the end of the month. DH says 7/24
And yes - i have an extra bag to steal stuff.

Pack snacks anyway!!!!
I was at SB and all I wanted was junk and snaky things in the middle of the night. I had twizzlers, jolly ranchers, granola bars stuff like that!!!

Re: What's left to do? I'm such a planner, i just want everything SET!
They gave me some vaseline packs, but make sure you have vaseline for taking care of the circ, and rubbing alcohol for cleaning the cord.
Also, some diapers if you don't have them--we went through a 60-pack of newborn Pampers swaddlers in the first week.
I quickly learned that DS hates having outfits over his head, so maybe pick out some outfits for sleep and day that completely button up the front. We have him in long outfits during the day because we've been in the central air at home since he got home.
They do send you home with some mini bottles, but not a ton, and I quickly switched to Born Free and Dr. Browns to help with gas.
It was actually easy cooking the first couple weeks, esp. if your DH is home--the first week or so they just sleep a lot. I was making better dinners than I ever had while working! Around week 2 he started being up a lot more.
Other than that, we go through a TON of blankets, burp cloths, and bibs!
The SB fridge wasn't that well stocked--I think people either horded the food or shared with their own guests! I was thankful for some snacks, but always ordered a ton of food at meals and saved for snacks later (you can order much more than you'd think--I would get 4 desserts and share with DH and put some puddings in the fridge for snacks!). Also, if you are a soda fiend as I am, they don't have soda on the menu, so I brought a lot of my own soda and either put it in the fridge or used the ice machine.
They gave a little bag of toiletries to use, but I brought hotel-sized soap and shampoo/conditioner that was nicer than what they gave.
For going home, I'd recommend having maxi pads with wings--3 weeks post partum I am still using Always with wings because I am still bleeding, and the maternity pads they give you are HUGE!!!!
And a pic of my little guy to say good luck! SB delivers cute babies!!!!

Re: What's left to do? I'm such a planner, i just want everything SET!
I agree about stocking up on diapers. We went through a ton of newbown diapers already (3 boxes of 84 count in the first month).
I would bring your boppy pillow to the hospital. I find it helpful when feeding.
SB will give you sample of formula in RTF bottles so you don't need your bottles immediately when you get home but probably in the next day or two.
I agree with Michelle about the batteries! We went to BJs and bought giant packages of all the different types of betteries that we need.
