What's the best hotel in NYC?

DH and I can't go away for our anniversary this year so we were thinking of doing an overnight in the city at someplace swanky.

Ideas?

Ummmm...you weren't kidding.

It's between $2000 and $4000 PER NIGHT!!!

What on earth is worth that?

Can we take the bed home with us?

I was going to recommend the St. Regis as well. I just read in Architectural Digest that they've updated guest rooms, the lobby, restaurant and bar.

Re: What's the best hotel in NYC?

I work for the company that owns St. Regis. It is an awesome hotel, although a little stuffy. BUT you do get your own personal butler for your stay!! It's the only hotel in NY thathas them. The rooms are all detailed on their website, and they have a ton of "designer" suites. The newest one they have is a Bottega Veneta Suite. Out of the "regular" rooms, the Grand Luxe is really nice. The flat screen TV is at the foot of the bed and comes up out of a pc of furniture Chat Icon

It is super expensive - average daily rate is about $800 for a regular room, and the city is really compressed right now so you won't find any great deals at the moment. The best time to go (least expensive) will be the week of Thanksgiving, the week of Xmas or in January.

Re: What's the best hotel in NYC?

Danielle and I recently stayed at the Omni Berkshire place.

I researched like crazy. I read every review I could find on a bunch of hotels.

We called many places to find out prices and kept coming back to the Omni Berkshire.

We paid $399 a night for a Superior room, but when we got there we were upgraded to a Suite for free. The room we were upgraded to was $730 a night. It had a living room, with french doors to the king size bed, and a nice size Marble Bathroom. The bed was so comfy and the linens were nice quality. The hotel was extremly clean. There is a concierge downstairs that will make reservations for you...We used them twice and were happy both times with their choices.

There is a Bar/Restaurant next door.

We joined their members club on their website and we received 1 beverage each in the morning and the newspaper for free.

The first day I had coffee....Its Starbucks, and Danielle had Cranberry juice. The second Day Danielle got Hot Chocolate and I got Apple Juice. It was a great addition to the morning.....

The hotel is located on 53rd and park, I think....Or was it Madison hmmm.....

It was a very good location.

We ate at two restaurants in the area for Breakfast...One was Papillon and the other was Brassirre....Pronounced - Brasarieee....

Excellent food.

NYC is expensive but we had a great time. FM me for more info.

DH & I stayed @ The Ritz Carlton Battery Park for our anni and loved it!

I used to do the pr for the following hotels in NYC, all of which are also great. I'd start from the top down:

The Benjamin
The Regency, A Loews Hotel
Affinia Dumont
Affinia 50

This one is the best!!! we stayed there last year on our wedding night!

I also love Four Seasons and the Pierre and the Waldorf Astoria Towers (next to the regular one)......also the Penninsula hotel is great!

it all depends what you like...there are stuffy hotels and there are very nice very modern hotels own by Ian Schrager (same guy who owns the Delano in Miami)...also, Soho Grand and the Mercer Hotels are great/hip hotels

The hilton on 5th Ave. was nice for a weekend. Also the Waldorf was nice but I think the hilton was better and the location is pretty cool.
