what's the best way to breastfeed AND pump?

I'm going to be getting a breast pump today and I want to start pumping and building a supply. I've been switching boobs with each feeding and was thinking that I can pump one boob while Luca has the other and then switch at the next feeding. Is that the right way to do it? I can use some advice on this because I'm not really sure what to do.
The stupid lactation nazzi made me feel guilty for pumping and didn't really tell me the best way to do it.

I don't know if this is the best way, but this is what I do.

First off, I have the Medela Pump In Style Advance with a backpack. DEFINTELY RECOMMEND!!

About 4 weeks pp, I started pumping in the mornings and/or night- just to sort of "bank" my milk.

When I went back to work at 3 months, until now, I pump first thing in the morning before I feed DD. I also pump twice during the day. Now that she is getting older, I may increase it to 3 times. I also want to start pumping at night again, but I am usually too tired for that. I bring the pump back and forth with me to work.

I would advise that you freeze a test batch and then defrost it. I found out the hard way that ALL of my milk was rancid due to lipase in my milk...it was a huge disappointment for me. So read this page before freezing.

I had the exact same thing happen this week I thought I had a month of BM stored up and had to throw it all out. Great idea to test it out first.
