What's the deal with constantly dropping stuff on the ground?

She has been doing this for a while-- but now it seems like EVERYTHING.. she picks up and throws on the ground.

When she's done eating-- she'll look like she is going for more food, only to grab it and throw it on the floor in a nasty way-- like "ha ha, look what I did". She'll grab her clothes and throw them on the floor while dressing her, etc.

I know i read somewhere that they think it's a game, but she doesn't look like she's just doing it for fun. It's like she is doing it to exert a sense of control or something.

My DS does this and follows it up with "Uh-oh." Everything ends up on the floor! Chat Icon

Chat Icon Me too!

It does have something to do with control - but it's more about learning about the environment and cause and effect.

DD also is kinda nasty, with the way she does it and if I pick it up she trys to grab and throw it again on the floor even harder. I wonder if it is about control too?

Since Sasha is MY daughter, it's definitely about control. Chat Icon

I know it's an experimental thing, but she just DOES it... I don't know-- like, everything has to be out of her sight and on the floor, or it's just instinctual if she can get her hands on something.

DS does the same thing. He must say "uh-oh" a million times per day! Strangers think it is so funny but when you are picking things up a million times per day it is a bit frustrating!

When you find the secret to stopping this, let me know. DS is almost 2 and he still does this! And he purposely throws it off the splat mat...my floor is a mess every day! Chat Icon

Re: What's the deal with constantly dropping stuff on the ground?

Shaylie does this with the stuff in her crib. She has Cookie Monster, her monkey lovey & her binky and when I go into her room, everything is on the floor. What's really frustrating is when it everything goes between the crib and the wall and I have the pull out the crib. I do this at least twice a day Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
