What's the deal with peanut butter?
I normally don't eat it but has developed a strong craving for it. However, I heard something about the baby possibly being allergic to peanut butter after I have her if I eat it during pregnancy. Anyone ever heard that?

I heard heard of it but I had the craving too! I ate it alot and never really ate it before. My peditrician said that I can try peanut butter for Justin now that he is 2. I am trying tomorrow. I was let you know if he gets a reaction.

I've heard that if you eat alot of PB in your last trimester, it could possibly increase the chances of your baby having a peanut allergy. The allergy is more often a genetic factor & I don't think there is any conclusive studies on eating while pg

Really? So interesting. My Dr. has said nothing and I eat PB&J's literally every day. Do you or your husband have a peanut allergy?

Re: What's the deal with peanut butter?
I actually asked a Mom of a child with a peanut allergy about this after the last post....(there are 4 kids in the 2nd grade at my daughters school with peanut allergies)
She is extremely well informed..as any parent with a child with a peanut allergy would be...
She said that although she has heard about it...more on an internet type thing...she has never received this from a reliable source nor does she believe it...
So we spoke to the other 3 parents with peanut allergy children in my daughters class and 2 ate peanut butter during pregnancy and the other 2 said that they didnt...none of them feel that eating it or not eating it has anything to do with their children developing an allergy.

I have heard about this is passing- my Dr. has never said anything to me. I have been living on PB&J sandwiches and chocolate milk for the past few weeks- I hope I'm not doing any harm!

yes! i know someone whose child is deathly allergic-she was told go light on all high allergens-it can make them allergic later on. It was all she ate prego.

I was told the same thing and no one in either of our families has ever had a peanut butter allergy.
I was going to ignore it, but DH pointed out since we eat so much of it normally that it would be so hard to have a child with a peanut allergy, so I haven't been eating it. I loved it earlier tho.
